The Hitchhiker's Guide to Emini Futures

Hitchhiker's Guide To Emini Futures Trading

Corporate - We've covered a lot of ground in 2012. Partners are flourishing, our mission is more vivid than ever before and we just finished our best month yet in the Live Emini Training Room. Tip o' the hat to Michael for a job well done. As you already know, the business of trading can be a challenge on even the best of days. Michael's ability to remain focused on multiple markets while answering questions and training, is no small task. It's a rare day at the office when I don't receive at least one email, phone call, or live chat from a Partner expressing their gratitude for his diligence and hard work.

Rage In The Cage - Emini Trading With Attitude

Emini Trading With The Right Attitude - A Good One!

We are on the verge of completing our best month ever in the Live Emini Trading Room. November posted a gain of $3,800.00 per contract. If you're a 10 contract trader, you can do the math. These results do not include any of our other trading exploits. This represents just the 2 hours each day when we trade in front of a live audience which consists of CFRN Partners and those taking our 1 Week Free Trial. If it's not done in public, we do not add it to this tally.

We discuss each trade we take. We talk about if before, during and after. We point out the setup, we establish the exact price for entry and we use aggressive risk management. No matter which market we are trading in the Live Trading Room, we never risk more than 8 ticks. This includes:

Defining Wealth - A How To Guide For Emini Traders

Defining Wealth 2 Points At A Time -
A "How To" Guide For Emini Traders

Today's topic is 2 Points. Specifically, 2 Points in the S&P500 Emini Futures. Each market has its own equivalent so don't leave the room just yet. If you like trading Dow Futures, the corollary is 20 points. Prefer the Russell? Just 1 point will do it. Soybeans? This is where you put your 2 cents in. In other words, our discussion can be applied to any market that has sufficient daily range and liquidity.

Let's look at an average day in the S&P

The Night Before Christmas - Emini Style

'Twas The Night Before Christmas Emini Style - Feat. Frank B.

It is the night before... and I sit here amazed at the blessings in my life. A wife who loves me, children who respect me, and friends 'round the world who humble me as their "Partner".

I could be many places tonight, but I can think of no place I would rather be.

I am warm, and full, and the grace of God surrounds me.

Thank you all for being a part of my life.

Merry Christmas!

Definition Of A Professional Trader

Professional Trader Defined

I hear the term "Professional Trader" thrown around quite a bit. Pundits seem to enjoy pointing out the foibles of the retail trader while facing Wall Street thrice daily and bowing down to the brilliance and elegance of the professional trader.

According to the I.R.S. there is no true legal definition of a PT, so I turned to my dear friend the internet to see what the general consensus was. You might want to jot this down... (so you can burn it later)

My Google Search returned 383,000 results. In the interest of brevity I chose to share just a few...

"I'd say any institutional trader, as well as retail traders with an annual income at or exceeding U.S. $550,000 and/or net worth greater than U.S.$ 3 million."

Coaches Corner - Spaceship Thinking | Episode #3

Coaches Corner w/ Robin Dayne -
Spaceship Thinking And Emini Futures Trading

Remember those early video games? Nothing fancy, just you - a spaceship - and a few hundred aliens trying to take you out. What was the primary goal? The secondary goal? Once you were skilled enough to get your initials on the screen, how did those goals shift? Once you knew you were "good" at it, the way you played the game changed, didn't it? That change eventually came back to haunt you. If you stuck around long enough, you went through several iterations until you became a consistent high scoring player.

Electronic trading in Emini Futures is not much different than those early video games. The similarities are almost eerie. The biggest difference is you are no longer playing for digital creds, you're now playing for the mortgage, college tuition for 2.5 kids and your own retirement. The stakes are high and most of your friends think you are too. Am I right?

Stop Loss - Primary Tool For Successful Trading

Stop Loss Order - The Primary Tool For Successful Trading

How many times have I heard -  "I don't use a stop because it always gets hit".

Well, that's kind of the point. Not that it should always get hit, but that it does get hit every time your trade idea doesn't match up with the markets idea. Remember, the market can remain irrational far longer than most of us can remain solvent.

When I hear that statement my ears always perk up. In fact, anytime I hear the words Always or Never in relation to trading, I get tickled. Why? Trading is a lot of things, but it's rarely "always or never" anything. Think about this, if your Stop did get hit every time, on every trade (always), that means without realizing it, you've got a pretty good knack for knowing exactly where the market is headed next. If it "always" goes there, perhaps that should be your target and not your stop. When I challenge most folks with this, the "always" comes unraveled pretty quickly. Turns out, it doesn't always happen, just enough to make you feel wrong and feeling wrong is a very dangerous emotion.

Emini Podcast | Gap And Stall | Episode #1,560

S&P 500 Emini Futures

Friday was a trend down day, but things firmed up at the end and the close was quite bullish. On an hourly chart you will notice that the final candle on Friday had no wick on the top. This tells us the last orders to cross the desk were buyers looking to get long before the weekend, and/or traders exiting short positions. Remember, it takes two to tango. It takes both a buyer and a seller to create a transaction.

True to form the market did gap higher on the Globex open Sunday night and promptly stalled. Based on the "Gap and Stall", we issued the following Tweet -
