Trading Hours: Emini Futures - Live Emini Trading Room

This list will cover both the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (Nasdaq: CME) as well as the Intercontinental Exchange (NYSE: ICE). Keep in mind not all Futures Contracts are Emini Contracts. Typically a futures contract with the designation "E-mini", is a smaller fully electronic version of a larger futures contract which is also traded on the floor of the Exchange in an Open Out-Cry Pit fashion during the regular day session. Bear in mind, there are numerous "mini" contracts which do not fit the technical definition of "E-mini".

Emini Futures have become the most popular contracts being traded because of size, price and of course,  the topic of this article - Trading Hours. Emini contracts are traded electronically 23 out of 24 hours. The only day of the week other than holidays that Eminis do not trade, are holidays and Saturday.

Weekly Zones Capture Another 20 Points

S&P 500 Makes Another 20 Points Available Between The Zones

We covered the Weekly Trading Zones in depth in the last post. The market has now made an additional 20 points available as it continues to trade between the upper zone at 1548/1549 and the lower zone at 1542/1543. You will often hear traders complain about the market being "range bound". I won't make you suffer through the "lemons into lemonade" analogy, but that's really my point.

This particular range just so happens to be wide enough (5 Points), that it's possible to navigate and trade from the top to the bottom and back again. Once you're able to clearly define Support and Resistance, if there is enough distance between the two, you can trade it as long as you don't over think it. Bear in mind, if you're dealing with a 5 point range, any attempt to take more than 5 points on a trade, will leave you extremely disappointed.

Dow Closes Above 13,000 - Emini Futures Podcast

The Dow closed today above 13,000 for the first time in 3 years. As it did twice last week and on Monday, the Dow poked through the 13,000 level in intraday trading on Tuesday but then dropped back down toward the end of the day before a final surge that pushed it up to about 13,005. The S&P 500 Cash index closed above it's high-water mark to settle at 1372.18.

Emini Futures Trading / Dow 12,000?

Stuck in the mud but traders eyeing 12,000 in DJIA!

Traders’ hedging their bets going into tonight’s Presidential address and tomorrow’s FOMC meeting created a late surge in the SP EMINI offsetting disappointing earnings, overnight news out of the UK and overnight weakness in commodity prices. The trading day started in the hole when commodity prices fell with metals and energy weighing on the sector. Also weighing on the SP EMINI last night,  U.K. data showed that the economy across the pond was contracting at a rate not seen since 2009. Disappointing earnings from notables like 3M, JNJ and American Express weighed on stocks.

Emini Futures Trading / PPT Hard At Work Ahead Of Speech?

Earnings and the material sector keep us positive on the day!

Without any major economic news today the focus was on earnings and the chart. Intel had a share buy back program to renew some optimism. Shares of Alcoa were up 4% as they forecast further demand. Copper demand was also up based on China’s growth. Other stocks were mixed. The real question is whether this  market can penetrate $1296.25 ? This particular zone becomes pivotal in the direction of the E-Mini S&P 500 as traders size up the bulls and some of the key components of a bull market.
