Emini Futures | Is QE3 On The Horizon?

The E-Mini S&P 500 finished the quarter above that ever-so-important $1400.00 level!  The tone was rather optimistic as Federal Chairman Ben Bernanke has kept to possibility of further quantitative easing on the table. The extended accommodative policy has been re-enforced at several public appearances by the US Chairman keeping US interest-rates low until perhaps 2014 to support a slow but steady recovery. Some traders speculate that the end of “Operation Twist” in June may be the opportunity for the Fed to introduce another round of quantitative easing!

SP500 / Dow Emini Futures Trade Zone To Zone 03/05/12

The S&P500 and Dow Emini Futures traded lower today amid ongoing Euro worries and fresh concerns about China's lowered growth target. The opening hour gave us a 7 point range on the ES and and a 100 point range on the YM. Both markets managed to claw their way back to finish on par with Friday's close.

The S&P500 Emini Futures have now put in a double top at 1377. We still have 1 Weekly Trading Zone overhead at 1379/1380 and David has his eyes on 1383. The chart below highlights the discussion we had on the show today with Michael X. Keep in mind that he is holding part of his position overnight unless he changed his mind after the broadcast.

The S&P 500 Emini Futures and well as the Dow Emini Futures both failed to hold on to their early gains. On today's program we had the opportunity to talk to our friend and frequent guest Michael X. This is about more than trading large or living large. I popped a key question on him last year or the year before. I popped it again today and guess what? His answer hasn't changed. Life's funny that way, the facts may change...  but truth never does.

The E-Mini S&P 500 may have had that intuitive move-up on the pull-back of the crude oil market, the better outlook for the housing industry or perhaps both! The key-level resistance of $1370.75 has been reached and could incite a further upside move. Many analysts feel that the E-Mini S&P 500 is toppy and needs to retrace.
