The market pulls back into August '68 and then this rally unfolds lasting 17 to 18 weeks.
Perhaps this extended up move was more political fever than "thugs in the street"?

This is July through October '69.

It would take a much closer more in-depth and much larger sample size than what I have researched and shared in the last 5 minutes.
However, for those who enjoy such things, it should be an exciting journey to prove or disprove any tangible correlation. Keep in mind this question is about mass violence on American soil vs foreign soil. The foreign soil issue was settled by history long before the question ever crossed my mind.

There's a new breed of Trader evolving in the Emini and Futures Markets. Day Trading has become so "1999". The overnight Futures Market or Globex, is to these traders what Wall Street and the Dot Com were to Day Traders in the late 90's. Globex was once considered to be a "shadow market" where yes, it was possible to trade, but very few Traders outside of London were familiar with it.
Important market moves rarely began or ended on the overnight session. That was Wall Street's job. Not any more. In fact, the beginining and end of major market moves quite often begin or end, or both, during Globex.
Globex Emini Futures Market
What is it?Globex is an electronic trading platform – the first of its kind – used for derivative, futures, options and commodity contracts across all asset classes. Developed for the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, CME Globex (as it is officially known) operates continuously, unrestricted by geographic borders or time zones.
When is it? Globex is an open-access marketplace, operating nearly 24 hours a day, from Sunday evening through late Friday afternoon, which allows participants to directly trade and view orders, prices and other data in real time. The start of the CME Globex session, which usually occurs in the afternoon or evening, generally marks the beginning of the next trading day. For example, orders entered during Monday's evening session are dated for and cleared on Tuesday. There are brief 30 to 60-minute breaks, depending on the asset class, in between the close and re-opening of each of the five daily sessions.
Why does it matter? Globex allows both the professional and retail trader to escape the 9:30AM to 4:00PM Wall Street ball and chain. With direct access to Global Markets around the clock, the new "Night Trader" is unfettered and alive whenever opportunity presents itself.
